"The RLC has played an influential part in shaping my college career at Virginia Tech. It has enabled me to discover who I am and who I want to be as both an individual and as a leader. Not only have I been provided with multiple opportunities to develop my leadership capabilities, but also I have been able to meet students, faculty, and community members from all avenues of life."

"The RLC has provided me with opportunities and tools to learn and grow both academically and as a person. The leadership skills and knowledge I have gained through my experiences in the RLC have shaped my life and enhanced my time at Virginia Tech. The RLC courses, STA position, and now, the Intern position, have provided me with a strong leadership foundation that I know I will build upon in my future."

Living in Peddrew-Yates

One aspect of the Residential Leadership Community that has remained constant since the program's inception in 1998 is its home, Peddrew-Yates Hall. All first-year RLC students are required to live in this residence hall to establish a close-knit, leadership networking community. The only other students that have an option to live in Peddrew-Yates (commonly known as P-Y to RLC students) are students enrolled in the second-year RLC program.

Living in the Residential Leadership Community provides an opportunity for its members to live among highly motivated students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. It also offers the opportunity for the freshmen to live amongst second-year students who happily share knowledge and lessons learned from their first-year experience. These second-year students often work with the first-year students, RAs, and hall council to create study groups, community service opportunities, intramural sports teams, and other social activities. The community atmosphere present in Peddrew-Yates is like no other theme-housing program on Virginia Tech’s campus.

"The Suite Life"

Peddrew-Yates Hall is set up in a suite configuration, where six students share a common living area and a bathroom. Each floor has multiple study lounges and a kitchen for the students' benefit. The residence hall is centrally located near three of Virginia Tech's dining halls and War Memorial Gym.
